Download Pay to Play from the App Store or Google Play and sign in using your Google account, Apple ID, or phone number. Your account is created automatically on first sign-in.
After signing in, tap your profile icon to update your display name, handle, and profile photo. Your handle (e.g. @johndoe) is auto-generated from your name and is how other players find you. You can change it at any time in your profile settings.
Groups let organisers manage a list of regular players. From the Groups tab, organisers can create groups, add members by searching their handle, and flag members as regulars.
Regular members get a reserved spot when the group is invited to a session. Their spot is held for a time-limited window set by the organiser. They still need to accept the invitation and pay like any other player.
When an organiser invites a group to a session, regular members receive a notification with a reserved spot. They must accept within the time window or the spot is released to the waitlist. Non-regular members receive an informational notification and can join on a first-come, first-served basis.
Yes. You can be a member of multiple groups from different organisers. Each organiser manages their own groups independently.
Find a session via a share link from the organiser, or accept a group invitation. You will need a payment method on file, as all sessions require a pre-authorisation to hold your spot.
When you join a session, a hold is placed on your card for your share of the session cost. This is not a charge — funds are only captured when the organiser completes the session. If the session is cancelled or you leave before the cancellation cutoff, the hold is released.
The session’s total cost is divided equally among chargeable attendees. The pre-authorisation uses the worst-case split (based on minimum attendees) to ensure sufficient funds are held. The final charge may be less if more players attend.
For sessions scheduled more than 3 days in the future, the pre-authorisation is deferred. You can join without an immediate hold on your card — the pre-authorisation will be processed automatically within 3 days of the session.
Yes. If you cancel before the cancellation cutoff (set by the organiser), your pre-authorisation is released and you are not charged. If you cancel after the cutoff, you may still be charged your share of the session cost.
If a regular member declines their reserved spot or doesn’t respond within the acceptance window, the spot is released and offered to the next person on the waitlist.
If a session is full, you can join the waitlist. When a spot opens up (from a cancellation, a declined group invite, or an expired offer), the next person on the waitlist receives a time-limited offer to take the spot. If the offer expires, it passes to the next person in line.
Go to your profile and tap Payment Methods. You can add a credit or debit card, which is securely stored by Stripe. We never store your full card details.
You are charged when the session organiser completes the session. The final amount depends on how many players attended. Pre-authorisation holds are converted into actual charges at that point.
If you cancelled before the cutoff, you will not be charged. For disputes about charges after the cutoff or completed sessions, please contact us at the email address below.
Tap the + button on the home screen and fill in the session details: sport, venue, date/time, total cost, minimum and maximum players, and cancellation cutoff. You can also select groups to invite during creation. Once created, share the session link or invite groups from the session detail screen.
Organisers receive payments through Stripe Connect. You will be guided through Stripe’s onboarding process (identity verification) the first time you create a session. Payments from attendees are deposited directly into your connected bank account.
A small platform fee is applied to each payment to cover transaction processing and app maintenance. The fee is transparently displayed when you set up a session.
You will receive push notifications for important events such as:
You can adjust your notification preferences in the App under Settings > Notifications. You can also disable push notifications entirely through your device’s system settings.
Tap your profile icon to change your display name, handle, or profile photo. To update your payment method, go to Payment Methods in your profile.
You can request account deletion from within the App under Settings > Delete Account, or visit our account deletion page. Please note that some records (e.g. financial transactions) may be retained as required by law.
This usually means your card issuer declined the hold. Check that your card details are correct and that you have sufficient available credit. You can try a different payment method or contact your bank for more information.
Make sure push notifications are enabled for Pay to Play in your device’s settings. Also check that your in-app notification preferences are turned on under Settings > Notifications.
